Ruger unveils Ruger Custom Shop, adds new Competition models

Ruger launches a brand new Custom Shop, bringing performance and a splash of style to the Ruger lineup with the SR1911 Competition Pistol and 10/22 Competition Rifle. The Ruger Custom Shop aims to fill that high-end void for advanced shooters, hunters and avid firearms collectors.

“Our customers have been craving high-end performance variations of our popular models for a long time,” Chris Killoy, Ruger President and CEO, said in a news release. “We are thrilled to respond to the call and bring the Ruger Custom Shop to fruition. We are confident that these new products represent the very best in craftsmanship and performance.”

The Custom Shop relies on Ruger’s team of engineers as well as gun industry professionals to create unique guns offer quality performance paired with reliability and a stylish aesthetic. Leading the new Custom Shop are two new offerings — the SR1911 Competition Pistol and 10/22 Competition Rifle.

The SR1911 Competition was designed in cooperation with competitive shooter Doug Koenig. The full-sized 9mm pistol features the Koenig Shooting Sports low-mass hammer and competition sear matched to a custom flat-faced trigger shoe. The pistol also is equipped with a precision-machined disconnector and hand-tuned sear spring.

The pistol sports a competition barrel with polished feed ramp, fitted barrel lug, and 1:16-inch slow twist. Topped with a black nitride stainless steel frame, the SR1911 Competition is finished with Hogue G10 Piranha grip panels, undercut trigger guard, fiber optic front sight and ambi safety.

“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Ruger’s first-class engineers to develop this pistol,” Doug Koenig, Team Ruger Captain, said in a news release. “New and accomplished competition shooters alike will find this to be one of the finest, feature-rich 1911 pistols available. This firearm was designed and built to win.”

Rounding out Ruger’s Custom Shop offerings is the 10/22 Competition Rifle. The 10/22 Competition Rifle boasts a hard-coat anodized, CNC machined, heat-treated 6061-T6511 aluminum receiver with an optics-ready 30 MOA Picatinny rail. The receiver is paired to a 4140, head-treated and nitrided CNC machined bolt.

Sporting a 16-inch fluted, bull barrel, the 10/22 Competition Rifle is threaded with a 1/2-28-inch pattern to offer compatibility with the included muzzle brake or other barrel accessories. The 10/22 Competition Rifle is finished off with a Ruger BX Trigger and fully adjustable cheek rest.

“The 10/22 has been a mainstay in our lineup for over 50 years and has seen countless variations,” Chris Killoy, Ruger President and CEO, said in a news release. “Our skilled team of engineers took a ground-up approach to further enhancing our proven design and taking the already legendary performance and reliability of the 10/22 to a new level.”

The SR1911 Competition Pistol and 10/22 Competition Rifle are available through Ruger’s Custom Shop with prices starting at $2,499 for the pistol and $899 for the rifle.
