Sig Sauer’s P320 continues to forge its way into the holsters of law enforcement, with the Montgomery, Alabama Police Department announcing the P320 will serve as its official duty firearm.

With more than 500 sworn officers protecting its city, the Montgomery Police Department currently serves over 200,00 citizens. Previously relying on Glock for its duty firearm, the department has since made the leap to the Sig Sauer P320.

The P320 has made the rounds in law enforcement since its debut as the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System. The modular, striker-fired pistol comes in four sizes — full-size, carry, compact and sub-compact — with a serialized trigger group that allows for adaptability in multiple calibers, sizes and grip options. Chambered in 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, the P320 utilizes a 3-point takedown procedure that negates the need for a trigger pull upon disassembly.

Sig Sauer’s Executive Vice-President of Law Enforcement Sales, Tom Jankiewicz, said the company is pleased to serve Montgomery’s finest.

“We are honored that the Montgomery, Alabama Police Department has chosen the P320 as their official duty firearm for its full complement of officers,” said Jankiewicz, “Sig Sauer’s commitment to the law enforcement community is to provide them with superior firearms to protect and serve their communities – and the P320 exemplifies this commitment. We look forward to developing our partnership with the Montgomery Police Department and supporting their mission – to safeguard the life and property, preserve the peace, prevent and detect crime, enforce the law, and protect the rights of all citizens.”
